Privacy policy

This explains what personal information Hidden Gem Collectables collects, why we collect it, and your rights over it. We're the data controller for it; who we are and how to reach us is at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

• When you order on this website: your name, email address and delivery address — to take your order, send it and help with any problem.
• When you make an account: your name, email address, password, wishlist and binder — to run your account. Your password is stored scrambled, so nobody can read it, including us.
• When you pay: confirmation that your payment went through. SumUp handles your card details; we never see them.
• When you sign up to our newsletter, including the spin-to-win: your email address — to send you our newsletter, and only if you signed up.
• When you browse our website, if you say yes to analytics or marketing cookies: which pages you visit and what you add to your basket and buy, with your device, browser and rough location — to see what works and whether our adverts work. Our cookie policy explains these, and how to change your mind.
• When you ask to hear when something is back in stock: your email address — to email you once, when it is.
• In our shop, if you give us your email: your email address, receipt and store credit — to email your receipt and keep your store credit.
• When you trade in or sell us cards: your name and contact details — to record the deal and pay or credit you.
• When you email us: what you write — to answer you.
• When you buy from us on eBay or Whatnot: the order details those platforms pass to us — to send your order.

Why we're allowed to use it

• To keep our side of a deal with you: orders, accounts, trade-ins and store credit.
• Because the law requires it: keeping sales records for tax.
• Because you agreed: our newsletter, and analytics and marketing cookies if you said yes to them. You can stop the newsletter with the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, and change your cookie choice with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
• For our legitimate interests: answering your messages, sending account holders occasional reminders about items on their wishlist (you can stop these from any of those emails), and keeping our website secure and free of fraud.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share only what's needed with:

• SumUp, who take card payments for us.
• The delivery company carrying your parcel — your name and delivery address.
• The companies that host our website and send our emails, who may only use it to provide that service to us.
• eBay or Whatnot, for orders you place with us on those platforms.
• Google (Google Analytics) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only if you say yes to analytics or marketing cookies.

If any of them handle information outside the UK, the law requires protections such as approved contract terms, and we only use providers who have them.

How long we keep it

• Order records: six years, because tax law requires it.
• Your account: until you ask us to close it. Your past orders are then kept as above.
• Newsletter sign-up: until you unsubscribe.
• Emails you send us: as long as we need them to deal with what you asked.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, or to have it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email us using the address below and we'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

Our cookie policy explains the small files our website keeps in your browser.

We'll update this page if how we use your information changes. The date at the bottom shows when it last changed.
